Keith care home Pride event celebrates diversity and inclusion while raising cash for charity Mikeysline

A Moray care home was bursting with Pride as residents, staff and the local community came together for a fun afternoon of live entertainment.

Parklands Pride is an annual celebration of diversity and inclusion organised by care operator Parklands Care Homes.

Keith’s Longmore Hall played host to one of two events held by the firm - the other being at Eilean Dubh Care Home in Fortrose - on Saturday, October 18.

The lively Keith event featured performances by local musician Gordon Strathdee, Inverness-based singer Sugar Browne, Moray drag queen Miss Idah and the Heartstrings Choir, whose members are residents from Glenisla and Speyside care homes. Pride in Moray also attended the event.

The afternoon featured live music, bingo and a Pride disco, and raised funds through a raffle, bingo and merchandise sales in aid of Parklands’ charity partner, Mikeysline. With the Parklands group adding its own contribution, a total of £2450 was raised for the mental health charity, which this year marks its 10th anniversary.

Organiser Donald Morrison, Parklands’ Communications Director, said the event aimed to bring people of all backgrounds together.

He said: “Keith has long been known as the Friendly Town, and it certainly lived up to that reputation during Parklands Pride.

“We couldn’t have asked for better performers - they created a fantastic atmosphere and everyone had a great time. It was really wonderful to see residents, staff and local people of all ages coming together to celebrate inclusion and friendship.

“Our thanks to everyone who made Parklands Pride possible - our dedicated staff, talented performers and all those who came along to support us. It was a real celebration of community and local pride.”
