A Scottish animal welfare charity is appealing for those who love to flex their brain muscles to take part in The Great Scottish Pub Quiz.

The Scottish SPCA is encouraging people to attend their local quiz to raise funds for animals in Scotland.

Quizzes are happening across the country throughout February.

Animal rescue and rehoming superintendent Sharon Comrie said: “We are absolutely delighted 63 pubs are involved in The Great Scottish Pub Quiz.

“We’ve just signed up Balta Light, the most northerly pub in Scotland which is on Unst in the Shetland Islands, and we are delighted to have such a well-recognised landmark on board.

“Balta Light will be one of many pubs taking part to help raise funds for animals in Scotland.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to have fun and raise funds.

“We want quiz connoisseurs and novices, there’s something for everyone.

“The questions won’t all be about animals, there will be multiple rounds and topics to put brain powers to the test.

Sharon continued, “We want as many teams and people involved as possible.

“There’s still plenty of time to sign up, The Great Scottish Pub Quiz is running for the whole of February.

“The funds will help us to raise the £44,000 we need every day to continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals across Scotland.”

Participants must be over the age of 18, and anyone interested in finding out more about The Great Scottish Pub Quiz - including a full list of participating venues - is taking place should visit www.scottishspca.org/pubquiz or call 03000 999 999, and choose option 4.
