Two north-east charities have received £1000 donations in memory of a Turriff woman who lost her fight with cancer earlier this year.

Cancer charity Friends Of ANCHOR and Garioch Carriage Driving Group RDA both received donations from Sandy Norrie in memory of his late wife Yasmin who sadly passed away on January 23 at the age of 39.

The donations were part of the proceeds from the sale of the Aberdeen Angus bull Wrae Proud Ignatius V372, bred by Sandy and sold for 8000gns at the Stirling bull sales in February.

Explaining the decision, Sandy said: “Yasmin very much appreciated the care she received during her illness from the ANCHOR Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where ground-breaking research on cancer is being carried out, and her great interest when she was well was providing support for Riding for the Disabled at Strathorn, Pitcaple.

"As a family, we just wanted to recognise both these organisations who played such a large part in Yasmin’s all-too-short life.”

The cheques, along with a framed photo of the bull, were presented at a small ceremony at Lochter on Saturday by Sandy, his son William and daughter Sophie to Gemma Cameron on behalf of Friends of ANCHOR and Ruth Skinner on behalf of Garioch Carriage Driving Group RDA.
