Buckie women who stole from Inverness’ New Look are fined
Two Buckie women who went on a shoplifting spree in the north of Scotland and targeted Inverness’ New Look store have been fined.
Shannon Stewart, aged 26, of Letterfourie Road, and 36-year-old Claire Campbell, of Cairnfield Crescent, stole clothing and other accessories from the shop on the city’s retail park in Eastfield Way.
That shoplifting offence was committed on March 11, 2022.
However, their lawyer Grant Daglish told Inverness Sheriff Court that both had been dealt with for the other thefts, which he said involved "a spate of offending throughout the north and north-east at the time”.
The solicitor added that this case was still outstanding and asked the Sheriff to draw a line under it immediately.
Not guilty pleas to two other similar charges were accepted by fiscal depute Karen Poke.
He said that one had been placed on a drug treatment and testing order while the other was sentenced to a community payback order and there had been no further offending.
Both women, who were not present in court, were each fined £190 by Sheriff Matheson after pleading guilty.
