Snow and rain couldn't dampen Turriff's community spirit when local groups partnered with Aberdeenshire Council to improve green spaces in the Haughs.

Thankfully the sun shone for two sessions planting bulbs and wild flowers beside the boating pond and play park, in preparation for an abundance of spring blossoms.

The project was organised by Friends Of The Den with the support of Aberdeenshire Council's greenspace team and Friends Of The Boating Pond.

Staff and families of Turriff Primary School were invited along for a planting session in the morning, with the wider community invited to join the effort in the afternoon.

Various community groups - including Turriff Christmas Lights Group, Boys' Brigade, Brownies, Friends Of Turriff Cemetery Turriff And District Heritage Society, Turriff In Bloom and Turriff And District Community Council - were represented throughout the day.

Chairman Morag Lightning said: "We planted just over 75kg of daffodil bulbs, 1200 wild flower plugs, poppy seeds and wild flower seed too!

"We would all like to say a huge thank you to everyone who turned up to lend a hand... roll on springtime when we should see the fruits of our labour!"
