The annual BIG Switch On event returned to Inverurie on Sunday, alongside the St Andrew’s Parade.

The event kicked off at 2pm with entertainment provided by local musicians - including Long Train, Nick Innes and General Winston - and various stalls of community groups and local businesses.

There was also a selection of continental food outlets on hand, including pizza, paella and frankfurters as well as a selection of warm beverages.

The Saint Andrew’s Parade was lead by Santa Claus, much to the joy of onlookers, followed by the pipe bands of Inverurie and Kintore and representatives of various community groups.

The moment everybody was waiting for came at 5pm after darkness fell, with the switching on of the Christmas tree’s lights and a fireworks display over the Town Hall.

This year the lights were turned on by one year old Finn Jackson, with the support of his mum Amy, after he won the public vote of a hallowe’en fancy dress competition with his Rocketman outfit.

The Big Sing will take place at Inverurie Town Hall at 11am this Saturday, December 4.
