Warden Jan Lythgoe said: "As part of our 'Every Picture tells a Story' programme of events supporting Scotland's Year of Stories, pupils have created three fabulous banners depicting Bennachie before, during and after the storm, as well as a very poignant story describing the impact it had on the wildlife of Bennachie.

"The Deputy Provost along with Dr Pat Sturrock, Chair of the Bennachie Centre Trust, myself and some of the children’s family members heard about the project from Head Teacher Nicola McDonald before some of the pupils shared their experiences.

"We were all very impressed by the quality of the pupil’s artwork and their moving tale of the wildlife caught in the storm.

"The Deputy Provost expressed his appreciation of the effort that the pupils had put into this project and thanks to all involved.

"I showed the Deputy Provost around the Centre and explained how much the storms had impacted on the area and how thankful everyone was that the building had survived.

"Although there had been extensive tree clearance near the Centre, there was still plenty of wildlife to be seen from the wildlife viewing window, including several great spotted woodpeckers.

She continued: “We’d like to thank the Deputy Provost and Chapel of Garioch School for taking the time to pay a visit.

"The visit has been a lovely way to launch our programme of events and displays for the rest of the 2022 season including a Jock O’Bennachie exhibition, storytelling, art and straw working workshops, NEOS and a weekend event with Grampian Postcard Club – please visit the Bennachie Visitor Centre website or Facebook page for further details.

"The banners and story will be on display until the end of August and everyone is invited to come along and see them.”
