BBC series ‘Murder Case’ to focus on murder of Moray mum Kiesha Donaghy

A documentary series has announced it will focus on the murder of Elgin mum Lucretia ‘Kiesha’ Donaghy just over a month after her killer’s conviction.

The 32-year-old mother of two was found dead at her home in Elgin in November 2023 after she was bludgeoned with a still-unknown weapon in a fatal attack carried out by Owen Grant.

Grant (43) told his trial at the High Court in Edinburgh that he was “very sure” he did not murder her.

However, he was jailed for life in May this year for the “exceptionally savage” attack.

Murder Case, an award-winning documentary series, is now set to air a three-part series on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer later this autumn which will focus on the murder as well as the case of Tony Parsons - a charity cyclist who was killed by a drunk driver on the A82 in 2017.

The series will feature interviews with the families of the victims and those who helped bring the perpetrators in both cases to justice.

David Harron, Head of Factual at the BBC, said: “Murder Case is one of our most important brands at BBC Scotland and is hugely popular with the audience.

Vari Innes, Executive Producer at Firecrest Films, which makes the documentaries, said: “Filmed over the course of two years from investigation to trial, with the support of Tony and Kiesha’s families, these new cases offer unparalleled access to Police Scotland’s Major Investigations Team, following their quest for answers and justice for the victims and their families.
