Following the announcement this afternoon that Aberdeenshire is to remain at Level 2 under current restrictions, David Duguid, Scottish Conservative MP for Banff and Buchan, said: "I think many people in Aberdeenshire - particularly those in the hospitality trade - will be relieved to hear that there will be no change to the current level of coronavirus restrictions.

"However, it is clear from the rising level of cases that we must remain vigilant.

"There have been worrying spikes in infection rates in many parts of Banff and Buchan.

"If we allow our guard to slip, Aberdeenshire may yet be moved into a higher tier of restrictions.

“The virus is still out there meaning no tier level is currently risk free so I ask everyone to protect each other by continuing to take the usual social distancing and hygiene measures.”
