The outstanding bravery and excellent work of police officers, staff and members of the public has been celebrated by Chief Constable Iain Livingstone including two officers from the north-east.

Included among a total of 57 recipients from across the country were a team dedicated to tackling online child sexual abuse and exploitation, officers who demonstrated outstanding bravery against violent perpetrators and members of the public who put their own lives in danger to rescue others.

Chief Constable Livingstone said: "The last 12 months has been an intense and demanding year, underlining the relentless nature of policing.

"Officers and staff have continued to meet the needs of our communities as well as successfully policing the COP26 climate change summit, one of the largest operations in the United Kingdom’s history.

“Helping those in crisis goes to the heart of policing’s core values and purpose.

“Equally, we recognise acts of bravery by members of the public who have gone above and beyond what can be expected of a citizen.

"I am deeply grateful to them for their courage - stepping-forward when necessity arose.”
