North-east technology firm Fennex has secured a place in the finals of the OGUK Awards for its breakthrough digital solution which is set to enhance the offshore industry’s safety reporting process.

Fennex earns a place in the final round of the awards in the Business Innovation category thanks to the design and implementation of its Behavioural Based Safety Solution (BBSS).

The software uses digital technology to improve safety observation procedures across the oil and gas industry.

The Fennex team is delighted to have been recognised for its role in assisting the industry transition toward a digital future.

Managing director Adrian Brown said: “To be chosen as leaders in our field by such a prestigious business award is a very proud moment for all of us at Fennex as we continue to support the needs of an industry embracing a digital revolution."

Aberdeen-based Fennex, founded in 2016, based its submission on the successful collaboration with its partner firm Noble Drilling. The firm's digital solution transformed the offshore safety observation process across a global fleet, significantly enhancing the safety culture and delivering efficiencies that exceeded expectations.

The BBSS system is a cloud-based intuitive platform that provides live visual dashboards and intelligent analytics tools to aid decision-making and improve operational performance.

To allow for varying levels of digital readiness across company structures, it includes both an app for mobile phone and tablet use offshore and a paper card specifically designed for conversion to digital data using machine learning.

Mr Brown added: “We are seeing a marked increase in clients who are keen to leverage the power of digital technology to improve safety and efficiency in their operations and we are proud to be at the forefront of delivering this game changing technology.

“Huge thanks to the OGUK judging panel for recognising our contribution to the digital transformation of the industry.”

OGUK is the leading representative body for the UK offshore oil and gas industry. The awards celebrate the best and brightest the industry has to offer.

This year they have attracted 90 nominees across eight different award categories.

The winners will be announced during a ceremony at the P&J Live arena on Wednesday, December 8.
