Police in Turriff are investigating an assault which occurred about 8.40pm on Wednesday on Fife Street.

Officers are keen to speak to the occupants of a 4x4 vehicle seen in the area shortly before the assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.

The latest police report for the Turriff, Fyvie and Auchterless ward which was published yesterday showed that during June and July there have been eleven crimes reported of this type.

Four minor assaults were reported, three in the Turriff area and one in Methlick.

Five reports of threatening and abusive behaviour were received, three of which occurred in Turriff, one in Fyvie and one in Methlick.

The majority of the above reports have been detected, with the few remaining under investigation with positive lines of enquiry.

There has also been one reported vandalism at a rural property within the Rothienorman area and one report of wilful fire-raising to an unoccupied caravan at a rural location in the Turriff area.

These remain under investigation.
