Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin is encouraging girls and women to access free period products using an app created to help make people aware of where to access them in the north-east.
After receiving funding from the Scottish Government, Aberdeenshire Council now provides access to free period products including re-usable alternatives to disposable pads and tampons.
The app Pick Up My Period can be downloaded on your Apple or Android device and will provide users with an interactive map of all the locations products are available from.
Among the locations you'll find all Live Life Aberdeenshire swimming pools and libraries stock free items.
They should be freely available within ladies and/or disabled toilets.
Commenting, Gillian Martin MSP said: “This app – funded by the Scottish Government – provides access to free period products which are more important than ever as the cost of living crisis continues.
“Women and girls face very real period poverty and having to make choices about the affordability of sanitary products which is why it is so important that free availability has been made possible.
“The Scottish Government became the first country in the world to make period products free for all and it’s through this ground breaking legislation this provision was made possible.
“Please download the app or recommend to anyone you know who may benefit from knowing about it.”
