People's views are being sought about how best to spend Aberdeenshire’s share of £8million over the next three years.

The cash is from the UK Government’s shared prosperity fund whose stated aim is to "build pride in place and increase life chances".

An online consultation is currently taking place to help draw up a plan about spending the money.

This plan, which will list local priorities, has to be submitted to the government next month.

Paul Macari, Head of Planning and Economy at Aberdeenshire Council, said: "The shared prosperity fund will provide a significant level of investment in Aberdeenshire in the coming years.

"There are a wide range of potential uses for the funds which can add value to existing funding programmes.

"We need to ensure that resources are targeted as effectively as possible and focus on delivering against local priorities.

"Canvassing a wide range of views will be instrumental in achieving this and I encourage as many stakeholders as possible to respond to the survey."

Three different surveys are now open online.

The first focuses on 'communities and places' and might involve spending on infrastructure such as town centres, open spaces, community and leisure facilities as well as tourism campaigns and measures to address the cost of living.

The theme of the second survey is supporting local businesses.

Investment in people and skills is the focus of the third and final survey.

All three can be accessed by going on Aberdeenshire council's website and typing 'shared prosperity fund' into the search box.

The deadline for completing the surveys is Sunday, July 24.
