Saturday and Sunday, August 10-11 will see the Friends of the Fishermen's Hall Association (FFHA), who run the facility, throw open the doors with a warm invitation to all to see for themselves the progress made since the hall was taken over from Moray Council control last summer, as well a slearn what the next 12 months will hopefully bring.

One of those eagerly anticipating the festivities was FFHA chairman Glen Campbell.

"The weekend has been planned so the whole community will be able to get the chance to come and see what's been going on and what has been achieved over the past year, " he said.

"It's a free event, we are wanting to encourage everyone to come along.

"There will be a large exhibition, plans for the future of the hall, showcasing all our purchases, the public will be able to have a tour round the building.

"The committee will be on hand to answer any questions people may have about the hall.

"Past memorabilia will also be on display as well as the journey the Fishermen's Hall Trust has come in a year.

"An afternoon tea will be available for free to say thank you to everyone in the community for all their support."

Mr Campbell went on to underline the FFHA's deep-seated commitment to running and developing the hall with the wider community first and foremost in mind.

He added: "This is everyone's hall and always the motto is one voice one community one hall, we want everyone to join in the celebrations and the future of the hall.

"The hall I believe is differently the centre of the community and where a community starts as everyone can come together as one.

"We have a great community spirit and we want to build up on this and make Buckie a great place to be proud of."

The open weekend will run from 1pm-4pm on both days. For more information, visit the Friends of the Fishermen's Hall facebook page.
