Remembrance in Buckie, Keith and the rest of Moray - what you need to know





Moray is paying tribute to all of those who have served in the uniformed forces at dozens of events this Remembrance Sunday.

We have rounded up all the information about when and where you can pay tribute, at services and wreath-layings across the Elgin, Forres, Keith, Lossiemouth, Buckie and Speyside areas.

The Keith area is set to host nine events to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Keith is set to acknowledge the sacrifice of those who have served with a parade from Church Road, starting at 3pm, before a service and wreath-laying from 3.10pm.

A wreath will be laid beside Drummuir Church at 11.45am.

At Mulben, beside Hall a wreath will be laid at 2pm.

Dufftown will also see a wreath-laying ceremony at Noon, on Balvenie Street.

Glenrinnes cemetery is set to host a service and wreath-laying ceremony at 2.30pm.

The village of Newmill will mark Remembrance with the laying of a wreath at the Clocktower, at Noon.

In Rothiemay, the day will be marked with a service and a wreath-laying, at the junction of the B9117 and B9118, from 9.30am.

Grance will pay tributes to those impacted by way through the laying of a wreath at a site on the Keith to Banff Road, around five miles outside Keith, at 10.15am.

A wreath was also laid at the Cabrach Cairn at 11am yesterday.

The Buckie area is also set to offer a variety of events to mark today’s solumn occasion, with eight events locally.

Buckie will mark the occasion with a service and wreath-laying in Cluny Square starting at 11am, preceded by a parade setting off from the Royal British Legion at 10.40am.

This year’s parade commander year is Peter McPhee.

Rev Canon Jeremy Paisey from All Saints Episcopal Church in the town is due to lead the service.

Garmouth will mark Remembrance Sunday with a service on the High Street at 10.50am, before a wreath-laying at 11am.

A service in Dallachy is set to take place at the junction of the B9104 and C16e at 3.40pm.

The occasion will be marked in Portknockie with a service at 10.50am at Church Street.

A ceremony at the Cullen-Keith Road at Kirkton, in Deskford, will take place at 12.30pm.

Cullen will mark Remembrance Sunday at the Square, from 9.30am.

A service and wreath-laying will take place in Findochty, at the War Memorial, at 12.45pm.

Portgordon will pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice with an event in Gordon Square at 10.45am.

The Elgin area is set to host 15 events to mark Remembrance Sunday.

A ceremony at the Plainstones, on Elgin High Street, will take place at 10.50am followed by a wreath being laid.

Kellas will also host a wreath-laying, at the east end of village, at 3pm.

The Old Cemetery, on St Andrew’s Road, Lhanbryde, will host a service at 12.15pm today.

Urquhart will see a ceremony marking the occasion at the Community Hall on Main Street at 2.30pm.

A service will take place in Mosstodloch, on the old A96 in the centre of the village, at 12.45pm.

Bellie will host a wreath-laying at the churchyard memorial at 3pm.

Fochabers will mark Remembrance Sunday with a service at the Bellie and Speymouth Parish Church at 10.30am, before a wreath-laying at 2.30pm at the entrance to Gordon Castle.

A ceremony will also take place at the The Highlanders Memorial, near Baxters at 11am.

Alves is to mark the day at the west end of the village, near the school, at 11am.

A ceremony in Duffus will also pay tribute from 11.45am.

Pluscarden Church is also set to host a wreath-laying at 2pm.

A service and wreath-laying will take place in New Elgin, at Cemetery Drive, at 2pm.

Birnie is to mark the occasion tomorrow, Monday, November 11, with a wreath-laying at Birnie Kirk at 11am.

Spynie Church will host a ceremony on Monday at 10.45am.

Miltonduff paid tribute with a wreath-laying at the junction of Distillery Road on Friday, November 8, at 11am.

The Forres area is set for Remembrance events across eight locations.

Remembrance Sunday in Forres will begin with a service at St Leonard’s Church at 9.20am, before a parade led by the 39 Engineer Regiment, to the War Memorial at St Catherine’s Road.

Another service will also take place at the war memorial on Monday, November 11, at 10.40am.

Erskine is also hosting a charity firewalk at Grant Park from 6pm, to support its new Veteran’s Activity Centre project.

Dallas will mark the occasion at the west end of village, with a service at 10.30am and a wreath-laying at 11.30am.

In Rafford, Remembrance will be marked with the laying of a wreath at the junction of the B9010 in the village at 9.45am.

Dyke is also set to mark the day with a service at 10am, at the plaque near the entrance to the cemetary, before a wreath is laid at 11am.

Another event, is Kinloss Abbey Churchyard at 9.15am is also set to see a wreath laid.

A wreath will also be laid at the Whitley Memorial at Four Two Cafe at 9.45am.

Edinkillie is set to mark Remembrance with the laying of a wreath at the church boundary wall, fronting on to the car park, at 11am tomorrow (Monday, November 11).

Communities in Lossiemouth and the surrounding area set to host four events this Remembrance Sunday.

In Lossiemouth, it will be marked with a wreath-laying at 10.50am, before a service at the Lossiemouth Church of Scotland from 10.30am.

While in Burghead, an event at Grant Street will see a wreath laid at 11am.

Cummingston is also set to host a Remembrance event, with a wreath laid at the village centre on the main road.

Hopeman will mark the occasion at the Memorial hall, with a service and wreath-laying from 10am.

Speyside towns and villages will see seven Remembrance events taking place.

In Rothes, a service and wreath-laying will take place from 11.30 at the Anvil Gardens.

Archiestown and Knockando are hosting a joint tribute to those who have served, with a wreath laying in Archiestown at 9.45, and a service at Knockando Kirk from 11.30am.

While not having a wreath-laying ceremony, a wreath is also set to be put at Fogwatt Hall.

In Aberlour, a service in The Square is set to mark the occasion from 10am, along with a wreath-laying ceremony.

Craigellachie is also set to host a wreath-laying, on Victoria Street beside the church, at 9.45am.

A service and wreath-laying will also take place at Delnashaugh, Ballindalloch, at the hairpin bend near the hotel, at 2pm.

Tomnavoulin is also hosting a service, along with the laying of a wreath, opposite the village green at 2.30pm.

The Tomintoul community will mark the occassion with a service and wreath-laying at the Richmond Hall at 3pm.
