Aden Park is set to reopen following damage caused during Storm Arwen

A popular north-east country park is set to welcome back visitors after a protracted closure in the aftermath of Storm Arwen.

A spokesperson for Aberdeenshire Council said: "Thanks to a truly outstanding effort by our Landscape Services teams and outside contractors, we are delighted to announce the re-opening of Aden Country Park at Mintlaw on the afternoon of Friday, February 4.

"Following the devastation caused during Storm Arwen, the making safe of hung up trees will be largely complete next week as will the forestry felling operation around the main park areas.

"Most paths will be open and cleared of debris to a significant degree, however some will still be impassable due to stacked timber awaiting extraction and these areas should be avoided on safety grounds.

"Please understand that with so much damage to the park it will still take many months to clear everything and works continue meantime in the area around the twin lodges which remains closed.

"Timber extraction using heavy haulage will continue from the tree-felled areas in the park so visitors must continue to take caution over the coming months.

"Now our thoughts turn to the replanting over the coming years as we focus every effort to return the park to what it once was for everyone to enjoy."
