Repairs start for damage at local youth club

Last month, The Bothie, a local youth club in Kintore was vandalised as a large section of the purpose-built straw building's wall on the outside had been removed.

Action Kintore, who own The Bothie appealed online for both witnesses and financial support cover the cost of the damage made in July.

Thanks to generous donations from the local community to help the youth club get the repairs they need, the club even received a payment from the parents of the youngster involved.

With repairs now underway the remaining £500 raised may now be put towards The Bothie for buying an improved security camera.

As repairs to the wall of The Bothie started this week, a spokesperson from Action Kintore said: “It's fair to say that the damage to The Bothie was a pretty low point for us.

"But, from that low, the generosity has been overwhelming and heart-warming.

“I can assure you it has given us a huge boost to know that so many people care for the work that our charity, Action Kintore SCIO does with our younger citizens, through the Bothie.

“The amount donated has exceeded the cost of the repairs and we shall be writing to all donors to seek permission to use the additional donations to replace the CCTV system, which had been vandalised in a separate incident.

“A meeting has been arranged with a Crime Reduction Officer from Police Scotland, when camera replacement and other security measures will be discussed.

“Once again, from everyone at Action Kintore and The Bothie, thank you so much for your wonderful support.”
