Acclaimed Folk Singer-Songwriter Luke Jackson to Perform at Portsoy Salmon Bothy with support from Keith musician Chris Grant

POPULAR folk musician Luke Jackson is set to bring his Unlocked and Solo Scottish tour to Portsoy.

Luke, who hails from Canterbury in Kent, has become well known in the folk, roots, Americana and acoustic music circuits.

Nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award and the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ‘Horizon Award’ for best emerging talent, he has gained huge acclaim for his work to date.

Having toured extensively across the UK, Europe and America, the August performance at Portsoy's Salmon Bothy will be part Luke’s eighth Scottish tour.

Local musician Chris Grant will also perform as a supporting act. The Keith singer songwriter is a regular performer at musical events across Moray and is well-known across the region for his distinctive voice.

The event, organised by Folk at the Salmon Bothy, will be held at The Salmon Bothy on Wednesday 17 August.

Alongside their popular monthly folk club - held on the third Friday of each month - the group hosts a variety of traditional music events and gatherings throughout the year.

Bob Philips, Chairman of Folk at the Salmon Bothy said: “We are delighted to once again be bringing a high calibre of talent to Portsoy for local music enthusiasts to enjoy.

"We are really looking forward to enjoying a great night of entertainment from two excellent musicians.

"The gig is proving very popular, with tickets already limited, so we encourage anyone who is thinking about coming along to buy their ticket soon to avoid disappointment.”

Advance tickets for the event are available now and are priced at £10 each. Any remaining tickets will be available on the door priced £12.

Doors open at 7pm, for 8pm start and attendees may bring their own bottle on the night.
