Aberdeenshire helps out to the tune of nearly £950,000

Figures for Aberdeenshire show that the Eat Out to Help Out scheme has seen over 152,000 meals served up across the north-east to a discount value of £950,000.
In the Banff and Buchan area some 66,000 meals to a discount value of £397,000 were served while in the Gordon area 29,000 meals were discounted to £171,000.
For West Aberdeenshire there were 57,000 meals to a value £381,000 and Aberdeen City saw 38,000 meals to a value of £232,000.
A total of 6,333,000 meals have been claimed for across Scotland under the Eat Out to Help Out scheme with the total amount of discount claimed in Scotland amounting to £38,607,000
These figures are however only up to August 27 and businesses have until September 30 to make a claim.
Scottish Secretary, Alister Jack said: “The UK Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme has been a roaring success, helping protect 1.8 million jobs in the hospitality sector.
"More than 6.3 million meals were enjoyed in Scotland with the UK Government paying up to £10 towards each. I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported the scheme - as well as the staff who made it possible.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak said the scheme’s popularity had helped protect the livelihoods of the 1.8 million people working in the hospitality sector and drive the nation’s economic recovery from coronavirus.
With the scheme excelling expectations, by midnight on August 31 more than 100 million meals were eaten by diners in the UK as a whole with the 84,700 establishments signed up to the scheme making 130,000 claims worth £522 million
Chancellor Rishi Sunak said: "I want to thank everyone, from restaurant owners to waiters, chefs and diners, for embracing it and helping drive our economic recovery."
