Phil Anderson Financial Solutions matches grand donation for Aberdeen Cyrenians

A business with offices across the north-east has matched a £1000 donation to an Aberdeen charity from the inaugural Skipton Building Society Community Scheme.

Phil Anderson Financial Services, a financial advisory firm with offices in Ellon, Aberdeen and Inverurie, has matched the £1000 donation to Aberdeen Cyrenians which is dedicated to supporting people who are affected by homelessness, violence, domestic abuse and other forms of social exclusion.

The Community Giving scheme has handed out £40,000 of donations to community groups an charities across the UK which were nominated by employees of intermediary firms and mortgage brokers, and Aberdeen Cyrenians was in fact nominated by the team at Phil Anderson Financial Solutions.

They also agreed to donate the further £1000 meaning the charity received £2000.

Skipton Intermediaries launched Community Giving to give employees the chance to reward charities and community groups which support housing and homelessness, and more than 90 nominations were received nationwide.

Head of business development Paul Fenn said: “Skipton’s new Community Giving scheme enables brokers and employees of intermediary firms across the country to identify those groups which are doing great work and help them access a £1,000 pot of cash.

“We are delighted to announce the first 40 community groups and charities to receive funding and we hope our donation enables them to continue to make a real difference in their work.”

Aberdeen Cyrenians' Chris Bennett-Taylor said: “Firstly, thanks so much to Phil Anderson for nominating us for the grant through Skipton Building Society funding.

"It’s very generous for them to match the funding and hugely appreciated.

"Thanks also to Skipton for this valuable donation.”
