One man taken to hospital following six vehicle crash on the A96 near Huntly

THE A96 was closed in both directions around four miles east of Huntly on Tuesday night.

Emergency services were called to what was described as a multi vehicle collision on the crawler lanes towards Hillhead of Thomastown arround 4.40pm.

Six vehicles were involved but Police Scotland reported that only one man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries

Long queues of traffic very quickly formed in both directions following the incident.

Drivers turned round on the carriageway to seek alternative routes but local residents complained that some were driving dangerously on the narrow side roads.

The A96 was re-opened just before 1am once recovery of all the vehicles had been completed.
