Multi vehicle crash near Huntly shuts down the A96

THE A96 is closed in both directions around four miles east of Huntly.

Emergency services are in attendance at what is being described as a multi vehicle collision on the crawler lanes towards Hillhead of Thomastown.

There are reports of six vehicles being involved.

Long queues of traffic very quickly formed in both directions following the incident which took place just after 5pm.

Drivers were trying to turn round on the carriageway to seek alternative routes.

Local residents are urging drivers using rural side roads as a diversion to drive slowly and with extra care.
