A section of the A90 at St Fergus is set to benefit from surfacing improvements, with works set to get underway from Monday July 11.

The £270,000 improvements will address defects in the road surface on the section of the A90 from St Fergus village to St Fergus Gas Terminal, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is planned to begin on Monday and is expected to take place over five nights.

Works are scheduled to take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with all improvements expected to be complete by 6.30am Saturday July 16, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, lane closures with temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in place.

The convoy system will be removed during the day; however, the lane closure and temporary traffic lights will remain in place.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £270,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works overnight.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90."
