£5000 investment for 2019 Turriff Show

Turriff Show has received a £5000 boost to help it promote locally sourced food and drink.

The funding was given via the Connect Local Regional Food Fund.

A total of £104,000 was awarded to a total 23 projects across Scotland by the Scottish Government.

Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin has welcomed funding to promote locally sourced food and drink the north-east.

Ms Martin said: “Funding for regional projects is really important for supporting the food and drink sector in Scotland.

“The work is part of a wider ambition to raise the value of the food and drink sector to £30 billion by 2030.

“The Turriff Show Food and Drink Pavilion is a great example of how we can show off local produce and encourage more people to appreciate and enjoy amazing produce from across the north-east.”

Ceri Ritchie, project manager, Connect Local, said: “Once again, we’ve been impressed with the level and quality of applications to the fund.

"It’s clear that there is there is a great deal of energy for, and commitment to, developing regional food projects that benefit local communities.”
