The sessions, organised by local charity Gordon Rural Action, began last week and gave children the chance to try tubing.

Funded by Aberdeenshire Council’s Tackling Poverty and Inequalities project, the new bargain sessions will run every week until Thursday, August 15 and will include activities like an inflatable obstacle courses, canoeing, paddleboarding, fishing and even learning about fascinating beasties.

Children will also be able to join in a litter-pick and have a snack before sessions, giving them the chance to make a difference in the community.

GRA coordinator Kayleigh Nicholls said: “These activities are so important.

“We are providing an affordable option for the holidays, because the cost of clubs, groups and activities has increased with the cost of living and many children are going without.

“The second reason being the importance of us all taking accountability for our community and doing these litter picks helps with that.”
