Ellon Day Opportunities, which supports adults with complex learning disabilities, have recently celebrated three decades of activity.

Current staff and service users were joined by former staff, volunteers and service users for an afternoon of celebrations with lots of singing, dancing and laughter in the sunshine last month.

The service's longest running staff member, manager Lena North, has been there since day one.

She said: “30 years may seem like a long time, but to be honest it has passed by in a flash!

"So much has changed - from building extensions thorugh to the opening of Can-do and Benchmark to the fundamental change in how we support the people that come here.

“Some things have remained constant - notably our amazing services users, support form volunteer and parents and very importantly the dedication of our staff.

“I would like to thank all the people of Ellon who have supported us over the last 30 years - thank You!”

Ellon Day Services opened on June 30 1992, and has since expanded to include, Ellon Resource Centre, Can-do and Benchmark.
