18 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray within the last week

EIGHTEEN new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 1808.

This is a slight increase on the nine cases confirmed last week, and the 12 confirmed the week prior.

With no new deaths recorded, the number of people to have died due to Covid-19 in Moray remains 40.

Of those 40, 30 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

A total 451 negative Covid-19 tests have been confirmed since June 1, which is slightly down on last week's 473.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 15,674 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

That's an increase of 177 on the 15,497 reported last week.

Moray neighbourhood update

Three neighbourhood areas in Moray confirmed three or more cases of Covid-19 between May 31 and June 6.

These were Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley (three), Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry (three) and Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock (three).

Everywhere else reported fewer than three cases of the virus.

Scotland-wide update

Overnight, 1011 cases of Covid-19 were recorded throughout Scotland, with one further death.

In the last week, 32,312 people were newly-tested for Covid-19 with 5809 testing positive for the first time. This is compared to the 4135 who tested positive last week from 33,685 tests.

Since the outbreak began, 2,082,892 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 242,875 positive and 1,840,017 negative.

During the week ending June 6, eight deaths were registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Scotland's death toll is 10,130. A total of 7678 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 14 people are in intensive care in relation to Covid-19, with 121 patients in hospital.

In total, 15,933 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5, 2020.
