142 cases of coronavirus confirmed within the last week in Moray

142 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 2132.

This is an increase on the 87 cases confirmed last week. Meanwhile, 460 negative Covid-19 tests have been confirmed since July 7.

According to Public Health Scotland figures, 47 of the cases were confirmed on Monday, July 12. This represents the most cases Moray has confirmed in one day during the pandemic.

With no new deaths recorded, the number of people to have died due to Covid-19 in Moray remains 40.

Of those 40, 30 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 21,138 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

That's an increase of 1399 since last week's update.

Neighbourhood areas

Fifteen "neighbourhood areas" in Moray confirmed three or more cases of Covid-19 between July 5 and July 11.

Cases are fairly well spread out throughout the area, with 28 in Elgin, 16 in Buckie, 13 in Lossiemouth and seven in Forres.

Other areas with cases are: Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava (11), Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley (5), Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry (4), North Speyside (3), Burghead, Roseisle and Laich (3), Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward (3).

Scotland-wide update

Across Scotland in the last week, 50,720 people were newly-tested for Covid-19 with 17,555 testing positive for the first time.

Since the outbreak began, 2,365,322 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 321,202 positive and 2,044,120 negative.

During the week ending July 11, 30 deaths were registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. That's up by nine on last week's total of 21.

Scotland's death toll from coronavirus is 10,220. A total of 7772 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 46 people are in intensive care in relation to Covid-19, with 515 patients in hospital.

In total, 16,847 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5, 2020.
