115 new cases of coronavirus confirmed within the last week in Moray

A TOTAL of 115 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 2717.

This is an increase on the 83 cases confirmed in last week's update.

A total of 702 people have tested negative for Covid-19 since August 17, up from 582 last week.

The number of people in the area to have died due to Covid-19 since the outbreak began remains 42.

Of those 42, 32 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 25,702 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began – up 1249 from last week's update.

Moray neighbourhood update

Fourteen different 'neighbourhood areas' in Moray confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between August 16 and August 22.

Elgin is the worst hit town, with 26 cases of the virus, while Lossiemouth has 14 and Buckie has 13.

Keith and Fife Keith recorded four cases, with fewer than three in Forres.

Other areas with cases of the virus are: Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry (10) Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward (eight), Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava (six), Burghead, Roseisle and Laich (four), Cullen, Portknockie, Fondochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock (four), Rural Keith and Strathisla (three) and Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish (three).

The number of people aged 18 plus fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in Moray is 67,141, which is 86.6 per cent of the area's adults.

In the last week, 649 people have been given their second jab.

A total of 71,554 (92.3 per cent of Moray's adult population) have received one dose of a vaccine.

Across the NHS Grampian health board region, 89.5 per cent of adults (423,671 people) have received a first dose, with 81.1 per cent (384,093 people) having been fully vaccinated.

In Scotland, 4,088,894 people have received their first jab and 3,603,429 people have received both.
