Moray local hero could win £1000 for Christmas in Gift Card-backed national contest

A Moray local hero could find themselves with a £1000 festive season boost thanks to a national competition.

The Moray Gift Card is backing The BIG Christmas Giveback, which aims to give back to local heroes by asking for nominations for individuals, community groups and organisations who are having a positive impact in their community.

The person or organisation with the most nominations in the competition will win a £1000 Town and City Gift Card, such as the Moray Gift Card, with one person who nominated them winning a £500 gift card.

Moray’s local gift card can be spent with over 260 local businesses.

Louise Dunn, from the Moray Gift Card, said: “Moray is home to some wonderful people, charities and organisations who go above and beyond to make our region thrive, including many who have used our Moray Gift Card to further power our local economy.

“I’d love to see these people and organisations being recognised for their support for local. It takes moments to nominate with a great prize on offer.”

The Moray Gift Card is part of the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card supported by Scotland’s Towns Partnership and fintech Miconex. Over 20,000 local businesses are part of Miconex’s local gift card programs around the world with over £45 million spent locally through the cards.

Colin Munro, CEO of Miconex, commented: “It’s fantastic to launch The BIG Christmas Giveback in Moray.

“The campaign is centred on the people and organisations that make our communities great. It could be a business owner that brings a valued service to the community, a person who has raised funds for a local charity or an organisation which is making positive change in their local area.

“If you know an individual or organisation that deserves to be recognised, nominate them. We’ll be sharing nomination stories as they come in, shining a light on the local heroes in our communities.”
