USERS of Keith's leisure centre are probing the possibility of setting up a support group to ensure the facility's long-term future.

Keith Sports and Community Centre (KSCC) was among services due to close under February's local authority budget cuts, but received an eleventh hour reprieve after a huge surge in membership.

A question mark remains over its future, however, due to a budgeted shortfall for 2019/20.

So local supporters are exploring what they can do to help and have created a survey to see if there is local appetite for a support group.

The group is being co-ordinated by Councillor Theresa Coull and locals are trying to establish how it could help.

Early ideas include: providing volunteer support at events; demonstrating support for the facility; helping to generate income through sponsorship or grant income and helping to ensure the facility is there for generations to come.

They have appealed for local people to take five minutes to have their say via the survey, which can be accessed online – https://form.jotformeu.com/93142350921349 – with paper copies available from the KSCC reception.
