Keith says farewell to minister

TRIBUTES have been paid to Keith’s popular minister who is leaving.

The St Rufus Sunday Club youngsters performed a wide variety of acts in front of an audience which filled the Longmore Hall with Rev Dr Kay Gauld the guest of honour.

Rev Dr Kay said: "It was a very emotional day. The Sunday Club had decorated the church with flowers and I was presented with two rose bushes for my new garden.

"At the end of the service I was given a standing ovation which was very touching and just lovely."

Everyone was invited to write a comment in a memories book which was later presented to Rev Dr Kay.

Rev Dr Kay Gauld said: "It was hard to say cheerio but the folk from Insch have been very welcoming. Some even attended the farewell events in Keith to offer me support."

Parish of Insch, Leslie, Premnay and Oyne, where she will be officially inducted on August 6.

In the meantime, locum minister the retired Rev David Whyte will be appointed for St Rufus, Botriphnie and Grange and the vacancy procedure will begin.
