KEITH will have some added colour this summer thanks to a community effort.

Keith in Flower was the brainchild of locals Dave Carson and Peter Laing and Keith Community Council then threw its weight behind the idea.

The initiative came to fruition when volunteers planted out the bandstand garden ahead of a short ceremony to herald the colourful project.

Hanging baskets have been distributed to local businesses. Shops, businesses, local organisations and schools have each taken responsibility for a different area of the town.

"We wanted more colour in the community," said Mr Carson, "and we have had tremendous support from Keith Community Council."
