KEITH farmer Garry Patterson's pain was worth it after seeing his animal crowned beef cattle champion of champions at his home show.

Garry, of Upper Forgie, Aultmore, sustained a sore kick from a bull earlier in the day and was heavily bandaged.

However, his pain was eased when his three-year-old charolais cow, co-owned with Blair Duffton, from Huntly, won the Simmers Contracts-sponsored overall title on Monday.

Garry wasn't able to show Battlefield Lola because of his injury, however, he was delighted with the win.

"I am absolutely buzzing. I am starting to forget the pain in my leg.

"I do a lot of showing throughout the year at bull sales and at shows but to take your own cattle out and win, especially at your local show, it is what you dream of doing."
