POLICE Scotland has urged retailers and licensed premises in the Moray area to be aware of counterfeit currency being used.

The notes can come in various denominations but are particularly Bank of England £20 notes.

PC Callum Elder said: "Businesses are advised to be extra cautious with cash transactions and ensure they thoroughly check the legitimacy of all notes.

"Anyone who is concerned they have received any fraudulent money or has any information concerning the matter should contact Police Scotland on 101."
