Two north-east businesses are set to join forces in support of a local charity for an exclusive Burn's Night event.

Inverurie's Fennel Restaurant and Morgan McVeighs at Tillymorgan have come together to hold a charity fundraiser in aid of the Friends of Insch Hospital which will take the form of a pop-up Burns inspired evening.

The event which takes place on the evening of Saturday, January 25 will be held at Morgan McVeighs premises which are located on the A96 between Insch and Huntly.

Hosted by Emma Cowie from Fennel, a set menu inspired by the date will be presented by chef Adam Parzniewski and his team starting with canapés and rustic breads followed by three courses of delicious food.

Choices include a starter of cock-a-lekie soup or citrus and beetroot cured salmon, mains of black pudding stuffed chicken or locally sourced loin of venison followed by dessert of cranachan or Scottish cheeses and of course not forgetting the Haggis, neeps and tatties.

The event is being held as a bring your own bottle, be it soft drinks for those doing dry January or something a little stronger.

There will be a piper, an address to the haggis and the log burner will be lit adding to the atmosphere.

Fennel's Bill Bird said: “We are doing this in support of Insch Hospital who looked after my late mum many times especially towards the end, they are an amazing team.

“When she was alive she used to talk often about how Morgan McVeighs, which she loved, would be lovely at night, all lit up and with the fire on and so on, so it seemed the perfect match to bring the two things together for a fundraising event.”

With the exclusive menu and entertainment Bill said: “All of this is for £25 per person with a donation to the hospital, and further donations can be made on the evening.

“We’re suggesting a minimum table of four and so far most bookings are around seven or eight people but with limited space don’t delay in getting your tickets.”

Tickets available exclusively from Fennel on 01467 670065 with the full menu available online via www.facebook.com/TheFennel.
