POLICE in Huntly have urged parents to think about where they park when dropping off their children at school.
Constable Lesley Harvey was on hand at Gordon Primary and The Gordon Schools to remind people to park considerately.
The initiative was in response to concerns from parents and teachers over road safety at the school gates off Castle Avenue and in the Seton Terrace and Meadow Avenue areas.
Constable Harvey said: "We are monitoring vehicles stopping and dropping off or picking up children at school.
"Our intention is to create a safe environment at the school gates and to promote road safety in general.
"At Gordon Primary School people park close to the gates on the bend or sometimes across the drives of houses.
"Ideally we would ask people to walk their children to school to ease congestion.
"We will have patrols in the area in the coming weeks to reinforce the message and will speak to drivers who we consider are causing a hazard by their parking."
People parking on double yellow lines will receive an on-the-spot fine of £30.
