THE North East Tractor Pulling Club roared onto their site at Huntly for the annual two days of competition.

But heavy rain overnight on Saturday meant that the programme planned from mid-day on Sunday had to be abandoned.

For local tractor pulling enthusiasts, James Mair and Mark Sievewright, Sunday’s call off was a disappointment after they pulled into second place in their class in their One Mad Massey rig, now competing for its third season.

James said: “There was just no way in terms of health and safety that it could have gone ahead which was a pity.”

Competitors came from as far afield as Bristol, Brechin and Forfar . During the session a 50/50 raffle was held with £230 as a prize and the same amount for the club’s charity for the year, Cancer Research UK.
