HUNTLY will "rally round" young midfielder Reece McKeown following his horrific leg break at the weekend.

The 17-year-old had only been on the pitch for seven minutes when a tackle by Forres defender Graham Fraser left him in agony.

The teenager was treated on the pitch by club doctor Gordon Carter before being taken by ambulance to hospital in Aberdeen.

Fraser was yellow carded for the challenge which happened three minutes into added time.

Huntly lost 1-0 to a first half goal from Stuart Soane.

Huntly boss Martin Skinner said: "It’s one of these things which happens in football. No-one is going to say the guy meant it because I don’t think he did.

“He’s gone in to hit hard and it’s just the way the tackle has happened, unfortunately for Reece. Luckily we have Gordon Carter the club doctor which was a massive help in the instant reaction.

“The lads will rally round him. He will come back and it probably won’t be the only injury he gets.

"He’s small, agile and fast, and it was small against big and in the end big did come out on top."
