Huntly schools to benefit from £9m plan

HUNTLY Swimming Pool, The Gordon Schools and primary schools at Forgue and Rhynie are all to benefit from a £9.5 million programme of maintenance planned by Aberdeenshire Council.

The maintenance strategy over the next three years includes the aim to replace all single-glazed steel framed windows in schools with appropriate double-glazed units, upgrade electrical services to which will reduce energy consumption and improve toilets.

Projects for this financial year include a new filtration plant at Huntly Swimming Pool. Planned in the following two years are new windows and boiler plant for The Gordon Schools,. Forgue Primary School and Rhynie Primary School.

The expenditure complements programmes that are funded by other lines in the Capital Plan including school enhancements, new secondary schools in Alford, Ellon and Mearns and improved disabled access to educational facilities.
