RESIDENTS in Aberchirder will be asked for their views on what they would like for their village at a forthcoming public meeting.
The meeting will be run by the Banffshire Partnership and gives people the chance to take part in shaping the future of the village. It is hoped there will be a large turnout of people of all ages, willing to give their ideas for improvements in facilities and services.
The views shared will be analysed and turned into a Community Action Plan which Aberdeenshire Council, Police, NHS and other agencies will use when drawing up policies and allocating resources.
Aberchirder’s first community plan was drawn up in 1996 when the Community Association was formed and this will be the fifth version.
Secretary Bob Peden said: "Past community action plans have brought many benefits to Foggie over the years, including the McRobert Park pavilion and its gym, a wide range of environmental projects on Cleanhill and elsewhere, a website with virtual museum and, three years ago, over £80,000 worth of improvements to the Square.
"The key to success is that the community and Aberdeenshire Council have been able to work in partnership, guided by the action plan."
The meeting will take place on Monday, May 25, in Aberchirder School, from 7pm.
