A very special event took place at Auchmacoy Lodge recently to kick start the festive season.

Residents and staff were joined by children from Auchterellon Nursery for their very own lights switch on event.

In preparation for the event, residents and staff had worked together to decorate their tree with baubles, gold ribbons and lights.

On the day the children led a Christmas singalong and did a countdown the the lights being switched on.

The children visit the care home once a fortnight to take part in a variety of activities with residents including singing, games and crafts.

Auchmacoy's manager Rae Paterson said: “It’s our first Christmas at Auchmacoy Lodge, so it’s a particularly special time for us.

“We have a fantastic relationship with the nursery and it’s brilliant they come and visit us twice a month.

"The children’s visits are a highlight for our residents and we’re so glad they have been the ones to kick off Christmas for us this year”.

Auchmacoy Lodge opened this September and is a newly refurbished nursing unit providing eight bedrooms, a living and dining area, a library and hairdressing and beauty salon.

It forms part of Auchtercrag Care Home in Ellon.
