The annual Snow Ball at Haddo took on a new format this year, which was well received by revellers.

Instead of a traditional dinner and dance, this year’s event was a formal hamper ball meaning that those attending brought a picnic to enjoy before dancing the night away.

The main reason behind the change was to keep tickets costs down and ensure that the fundraising event could continue to be accessible for as many people as possible while also raising as much money as possible for Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society - it must’ve worked as this year’s event was a sell-out with 120 tickets sold!

Music was provided by the Frank Thompson Band, and one of the many highlights was the premier of a new dance called the Haddo Snow Ball, written specially for the occasion by Phyllis Garden and set to music composed by Frank, who has played at the event for 52 years.

The organisers initially had some anxiety about the changes but there were so many positive comments that the evening was hailed a success and they are already looking forward to the next Haddo Snow Ball on January 9, 2021.
