An online consultation has been launched by the Belhelvie Community Trust and Belhelvie Community Council to find out what facilities young people would like to see in the area.

It marks the beginning of a wider consultation to obtain views from residents in Balmedie, Potterton, Blackdog,Whitecairns and Belhelvie.

Belhelvie Community Trust’s Rosie Nicol has called for youngsters to express their views in the important online survey.

She said: “This is a consultation throughout Belhelvie and it is to ask all people of the parish what they think they would like to see.

“It will be for all age groups but we will be starting with an online youth consultation.

“We want to ask younger people what type of facilities they would like as there is no youth club in the area.

“There are many youth groups but there is no youth club.

“The survey is really to find out what younger people think is lacking locally.

“From the consultation,we want as many people as possible to respond to it,then we can start getting a better picture so if both families and young people themselves can reply to it,that would great.”

She added the survey had come at a good time for the community: “It is a starting point to find out what is wanted.

“It may be young people don’t want something formal but unless they ask the question, we will not know.

“Certainly over the holidays there have been one or two queries about kids that were misbehaving.

“There does seem to be a willingness among parents to get together so it seems like good timing for it.

“The consultation has been done on our behalf by Doric design who carried out the bus service consultation.

“From our point of view, it is about waiting to see what happens in the results and spreading the word as much as possible for people to contribute.

“It has been quite a while since there was a youth consultation.”

People can fill out the survey until Friday,January 31 by visiting https://belhelviecc.org.uk/surveys.html
