The steps at Logie's Lane, which connects the top and bottom of the town, are currently in a poor state of repair and local councillor Sonya Warren has warned people using the popular route to quite literally watch their step until repair work can be completed.

She said: "I was very concerned after I was contacted by a local person who had an accident while walking to work.

"These steps are such a such a well used path in the town providing good connectivity to the harbour area.

"Many folk use them on their daily walk to work.

"It's important that they are well maintained but I urge people to take care until the steps are repaired. The council have erected barriers at the worst points to aid safety."

Alternative routes, including using North High Street, involve a more circuitous route that the more direct one provided by the Logie's Lane steps from East Church Street to Low Street at the foot of the town.
