Ron Jappy is due to launch Vincular this Saturday.

Ron will be performing and live streaming his highly acclaimed first album Vincular on Saturday, March 13 alongside a host of the most revered musicians and rising stars within the Scottish folk scene.

The online album launch is the first chance for audiences to enjoy a live performance of Ron’s latest recorded work. Viewers will also be able to watch back and enjoy the performance at their leisure until 10pm on Monday, March 15.

To ensure the online event is accessible to all, tickets are being sold on a ‘pay what you can’ basis with a minimum donation of £1. Donors will receive a complimentary digital programme and exclusive information about the music and artists involved when they purchase their ticket.

Ron’s role as an accompanist has allowed him to create an album of unique perspective.

He said: “I love accompanying music and I love working with others, it’s something I’m really passionate about.

"The role of an accompanist is crucial to the success of any performance; I have to support and enhance the performer and help deliver what they are trying to convey.

"It is often an exciting and creative process that demands an assured and versatile approach, never overpowering and never detracting from the main message.”

After an unexpectedly turbulent year of recording in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic and lockdowns, Ron is excited to share his creation with the world.

He added: “In about August 2019 I thought ‘Yeah, let’s do this and make it happen’ and that’s when the wheels were set into motion.

“I knew it was going to take a long time and did things in bits and pieces.

“At the beginning of last year I was away in New Zealand on a five-week tour and just got back in time before Covid hit and managed to get three of four days in.

“When we couldn’t leave the house, myself and recording engineer Scott Wood did some things remotely.

“I’m just really excited to get it out and let people listen to what I’ve been working on.”

As a highly sought-after arranger, fiddler, guitarist and pianist, Ron Jappy has shared musical experiences with a vast array of artists across many genres and this is evident in his creative approach. Vincular is a culmination of Ron’s 10-year long music career so it was vital that he hand-picked a group of musicians who complimented his experimental style in order to create and record the album he envisioned.

The album’s title Vincular reflects Ron’s role as an accompanist; to bind, link and connect.

The innovative Ron Jappy and Band will consist of an array of Scotland’s most in-demand folk musicians including Scott Wood from Skerryvore and Scott Wood Band, innovative fiddle player Mhairi MacKinnon, Fat-Suit and Mànran drummer Mark Scobbie, bass guitarist Simon Philips, dynamic accordionist Grant MacFarlane, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Finalist Ainsley Hamill, cellist and one of Scotland’s young rising stars Alice Allen, multi-instrumentalist and singer Lissa Roberston, Barluath’s Alistair Iain Paterson and Fat-Suit’s Fraser Jackson.

The online gig will be presented by Scottish singer, TV and radio presenter Joy Dunlop and BBC Take the Floor Presenter and member of Mànran, Gary Innes.

The virtual doors to Vincular Live Stream Album Launch will open at 7.30pm with Ron Jappy and Band on stage at 8pm.
