LIGHT has been shed on an old photo published in the Advertiser.

Jean McPherson receives a gift from work colleagues on the occasion of her forthcoming marriage in 1972.

In our June 8 issue, one of the photos in the Window on the Past section showed a young woman being presented with a gift at the former Herd and MacKenzie Shipyard in Buckie.

Nothing was known about the photo apart from the fact it came from the early 1970s.

Advertiser reader Jean Falconer has stepped forward to fill in some of the gaps.

The woman receiving the gift on the occasion of her forthcoming marriage was none other than herself, her surname at that time being McPherson.

Appearing in the photo (from left) are: Zandra Black; Sheila Donald; Jean McPherson; Gwen Rumbles; Jean Flett; Eunice Gardiner.

Window on the Past, which replaced the Look Back at the Past feature, aims to take readers on a stroll down memory lane in Buckie and the surrounding area in years gone by.

In addition to using photos gleaned from our own archives, Window on the Past is run in partnership with the Buckie and District Fishing Heritage Centre Ltd.

The volunteer-run group have thousands of images in their wide-ranging archives.

Although the centre is closed at the moment more information about the group's work, updates and the services they offer plus a shop can be found on their website at www.buckieheritage.org
