Bosses Lynda and David Robertson have announced that as of today, the newsagent side of the firm will be operating on limited hours from 6am to 3pm daily.

The gift shop section of the premises will shut until further notice while the cafe will operate on a takeaway basis.

Between friends on the town's High Street will close until further notice.

A statement on the Pozzi Facebook page said: "It is with a very heavy heart that we have to make some difficult decisions for our business.

"After consultation with our staff and listening to the Government making it clear they want to keep as many people at home as possible. We feel it is the right thing to close all non-essential parts of our retail.

"We intend to keep the newsagent's part open as a lifeline to many in the community until instructed otherwise and have ensured that it will be minimal contact between staff.

"The staff who will be working in this section have been exceptionally supportive and want to do this for as long as possible and to help look after our regulars.

"We will offer takeaway food and continue to provide the news at a time that it is difficult to read and comprehend. We intend to carry on delivering news and providing this vital service to the many people we serve daily and have done so for 33 years.

"Lots of elderly customers and those self-isolating have been worried we will stop this but we feel now more than ever we must do this to help those from Portessie to Spey Bay and all points in between.

"We are taking steps to protect the boys and drivers and we ask that if you see any of them please allow them to do their deliveries and go straight home.

"My driver team and I are able to help the community if we can and today we have delivered toilet rolls amongst other things and will continue to do what we can to support people through this time.

"This will pass but only if we all do our best to minimise and protect each other.

"All of us at Pozzi's wish that you and your family stay safe, keep healthy and we look forward to welcoming you back whenever we can do so properly.

"Buildings and retail do not really matter at the minute. People and their health and safety do and we will continue to make the best decisions we can.

"Thanks you for your understanding and your support, we need it now
