Taking their places with the group, whose primary aim is to foster the regeneration of the harbour and surrounding area, are Pery Zakeri and Lyndsay Mayo.

Ms Mayo is a full-time mother and describes herself as being deeply committed to village life. She is a key member and co-ordinator of Portgordon Covid-19 Support Group. Her family moved to the village less than a year ago.

“I’m looking forward to learning about what Portgordon wants from its harbour, as a community," Ms Mayo.

"We are lucky to have such a historic resource in our village and I want to find a way for it to benefit the whole of Portgordon.”

Ms Zakeri, who grew up in Aberlour and moved to Portgordon in 2015, brings with her a valuable background in event-led tourism and sustainable rural regeneration.

She said: “As a place, Portgordon has immense potential.

"Working alongside communities to strategically develop them is something that I hold a great passion for. To be invited to join the PCHG Board is a wonderful opportunity and I am looking forward to working with them to make a meaningful contribution to the village where I chose to settle.”

“The harbour has historically been the soul of the community. From its development, related projects can grow to benefit all who live here. This is an exciting time in the life of the village and to join the driving force behind it is a real honour for me.”

Ms Mayo will join the PCHG as secretary and Ms Zakeri as assistant secretary.

The existing four-strong team of directors are enthusiastic about these recent appointments, stating that the duo have have already brought a "great deal of creativity and insightful suggestions" to how best to progress the organisational goals of the harbour group.

The PCHG was formed in 2005.
